I have a NIB kit that I don’t see myself getting around to building. Too many planes, not enough time. It is one big box of wood.... anyone interested in purchasing it, let me know. Honestly, I am not sure what these kits are going for or what shipping it will cost. Open to reasonable offers.

Rich, I am not personally an expert on the 310, I looked at your pics and wondered if are you building the kit as the long or short nose version of the 310? I am guessing the short nose. Also my friend that has built one of these ended up changing the roof cabin top a bit to be a bit more scale. I think the roof section was to tall or thick on the original kit. I just wondered if you were making mods of any type.. Not that anything needs to be changed.

310 engines, gas ore glow
Hi everyone, since my last post I've been collecting parts for my 310 build . So far I have a set of Robart retracts I found used and a set of wheels and brakes new.
I recently acquired a couple of Moki 210 engines. Both are in great condition and when the weather warms up here in NJ I will bench run them. As glow fuel motors
I realize they might be fuel guzzlers. I need to reference the wing plan to see what size tank I can install in the nacelle to feed the motor.
Aside from this, what is the thought out there of using glow motors rather gas motors for this plane.? Well broken-in motors will be reliable and I'm just curious
if you guys out there have a preference and what your thoughts might be. I'll most likely mount them sideways and use a BCM muffler pitts style.

Hi All,
Just picked up a Bud Nosen 310 and have been reading this thread. I'd like to get opinions on using 2-OS 91 Surpass 4-strokes to power the 310. Would this be enough to power the 310? I do have 2 OS FP60s also. If I used Fiberglass Specialties' nacelles do you think they would fit (I haven't given them a call yet)? I had planned on building the fuse rather than getting a fiberglass one, but welcome pros and cons on that also.
Thanks.

I agree with GIJON
I have seen this plane fly the two .60s
It was marginal at best and had no power to pull out of a OH ---t moment.
I am using 2 DLE 30s to power mine and their is plenty room in the cowls to hide the engines
Good luck with your build and feel free to use the thread when you have questions about the build
I am sure you will find every answer to any question you might have here.

I've seen Mac Hodges fly one heluva noon time show at the Nall with his 310 on .91 fourstrokes . After talking to him
he said it was "adequate" but he would like 1.20's . Now in the average pilots speak , Mac's term of adequate probably means pleasantly overpowered . Therw were no DLE 20 engines then or im sure he would have preferred gas . Or better yet , call Mac and get his thoughts on the 310 , there would be no better source .

First, thanks for the responses. Due to $$$ concerns, unless something changes I will probably be using fixed gear, though I'm not leaving the option out for retracts. That should help a bit on weight. There is a 310 at a local airport which I'm planning to use as a reference. I am also considering using a couple of K&B 61 Sportsters as they can take larger props which should help.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, my instructions also show 0 degrees for up/down and right/left for the engines. Again, this was for .60's (maybe it is just better to slap either my FP60s or K&B Sportsters on w/0 degree settings). Any suggestions for 91 Surpasses? Thanks again.

NORM is here
NORM in Australia dialling in.
Just obtained some plans, I've been looking at the 310 for years. I recently totalled my 8 foot span ARF 310 after 8 years, so I need a bigger and badder 310.
Used to fly a Hostetler 337 in O2 disguise.

New member to the club!
Hello Guys from Toronto!
After dreaming about this plane when I was a kid I finally jumped into it! I just ordered the G&L fiberglass fuse & parts, a laser cut short kit on ebay, a small rain forest of lumber from National and the cockpit for from Bob Dively. The next thing on my list are retracts..... Any suggestions on what to go with?

I’m getting ready to start building and I have one modification I must do, since this plane is so large I want to make the stabilizer as 2 pieces, plug-in style for transportation. Since I am using the G&L fuse the structure is already there, I would just need to strengthen it to support the tubes and add attachment points. My question for everyone is about tube diameter, I’m thinking of 2 tubes, .500” diameter / .035” wall, 24” long with sockets in the stab halves, what’s your opinion?

Ken, could you report in when you receive your fuselage kit and laser cut kit? Tell us about them.
I'm somewhat tempted to get the laser kit myself.
Norm in Australia, just back from EAA Airventure at Oshkosh. What a show.
