OK, guys. I was looking for AT-7, but the AT-11 was also a navigator trainer, so you're both right.
Cozzens' "Guard of Honor" opens with a scene in an AT-7. I think you're both up: both answers at 6:08.

I believe that would be an AT-11. I have had the good fortune to fly a '56 beech 18d. Proof that pigs do fly.

The saying refers to LF Mark Vb Spitfires with clipped wing tips and shortened supercharger impeller blades made for low altitude operations. The clapped portion refers to pilots feeling that the planes were out dated.

BTW, my aircraft carrier/ trasporter is a Hemi Ram, which hauls my warbirds, including a P-47D-28-RA to the flying sites.
