Default Receiver and No ESC

My son has a toy grade rc rock crawler, fun little truck. The control board in the truck went out, I have checked all the soldered connections and plugs. Both motors work and the steering servo works. The truck only has one speed, so my question is: Is it possible to use a receiver to plug both axle motors and the steering servo into and be able to get the truck running.

Steering should be easy. Servo into the receiver. Motors will need and ESC to run the motors, they would not work straight off the receiver. Probably the part on the board that was the ESC is faulty.

You will likely need a transmitter and receiver to change out what you have.

What truck is it? Do you have a link?

It's a Red Devil rock crawler. It was only $30 but fixing it is more for me, as a learning experience. I've been searching for small Rx/esc control boards for $20 or less. Also wondering what to do about a Tx if I can't find a set. Any suggestions would be great!

Here is what I would do if I were to tackle it.

The size of that (it's this???????https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1p?&I=LXGVJDRR ) I suspect would only take a very small ESC.

I would try this: hhttps://hobbyking.com/en_us/supermicro-systems-brushless-esc-3-0a.html

One might even do both motors, they are pretty small motors I'm sure. Get two anyway, you might get a dud.

It's not plug and play but for me a bit of soldering and such is a breeze.

Rx's will be a bit tricky running on 1S battery. Spektrum Rx are rated down to 3.5 volts and will stay working a bit below that. I searched around for something like a cheap Tx/Rx but ones that will run on 1S battery are not common.

Or just get this and rape it for parts: https://www.amazon.com/Rc-Car-KingPo.../dp/B071FC26R1
