Default What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

Hello
i'm interrested by the JL L39 and i think to buy it.
I want to use it on a "good" grass field for microlight .
What is behaviour at slow speed for landing?
Do you have see the kit? what do you think about it?
Thank you !
Regards

the model is extremely well engineered , the LG is not.
i am currently building one for the Jetpower stand

Hopefully its well done. I like the big size and overall looks. Sandor doing an LG will make it a great combination (I used the Jet1A in a Boomerang XL).
Sandor, go and hurry up... I will be at Jetpower looking for it

Hello
Thank you for your answer.
Do you know if the L39 have washout on the wing like the second version of the JL T45(not present on the first version and many crasch )
Digitech, do you have some photos for your landing gear.Do you have the price?. What is the problem on the JetLegend ?
what is the size of engine do you think to use on the model? P 120? P 160?
thank you
regards

Hi,

There is nothing wrong with the Jetlegend supplied landing gear. It is actually built very well and has a near scale appearance.

The customers in the UK who have bought or seen the retracts have praised its' quality and performance.

I don't know whether there is washout in the wing but i'll have a look and let you know. Not every wing requires washout anyway...

The first L39 I sold here has flown already. Built and flown by Mick Houselander; apparently it has rock solid performance and lands at walking pace.

He has an AMT Pegasus in his but a P120 sized turbine would be very good too.

Cheers

Jeff

there is no problem with the gear , but on rough landings on grass it will collapse and or break out.
that is why you can optional get a Jet-1A Gear for it..
price is on our website
p-120 is good , p-160 has more overkill factor.
the L-39 is to scale so no changes needed , we have flown almost all versions out there , and they are easy to fly.

I just saw two kits of the JL L-39 in Rotor Hobby in Singapore.... Really well made, absolutely value for money.
Actually... I was so impressed about the content of the kit that I bought one, although I came there for some small R/C stuff ! [:@]
This should fly very well with the P-120, wheels are really big too, should work perfectly on grass fields too.
I am only a bit surprised about size of the the fuel tanks... they could have easily made plugs for 2x2 liters in China, so would satisfy P-160 owners and the like too.
I got the impression the present ones are just a bit too small.
Also the bypass looks a bit undersized (but I can be wrong) and I would replace the back end with a metal bellmouth (P-160's get very hot at the business end !)
For the rest, nothing but praise... very well engineered, finishing is great (except for the obvious seams they didn't fight with filler, but you don't look at such a model at close distance), and everything was installed and very very comprehensive. I also saw the landing gear, very robust. At first impression : little can be improved.
There is no manual only two 1:1 plans ; I'd rather had had some recommendations on servos and throws...
But yes : I haven't seen it flying nor have I started building it. So, no total impression so far.
But once again : superb quality for a very very affordable price !

Nicolas.

yes they are exactly as you describe them..
the bypass is fine , i have now fitted a ulysses aprox 140N inside it , i have built it almost 98% i could not finisch it in time to fly it.
however it will be present at our stand to see it.
i think the fueltanks can hold 4 liters but there is also plenty of space on top of those tanks to put a extra one.

Spoke to Mick (Houselander) on Sunday and he has been struggling to get enough power to do a big loop despite having 32lb of thrust from an AMT Pegasus.

General consensus was that it was possibly undersized ducting not allowing the turbine to perform properly???? Perhaps a P120 would be a good option?

Mark

My friend Christos from Cyprus just called me to say he received his own kit half an hour ago (what a coincidence !), he's very impressed too...

The AMT Pegasus should have enough power for this bird... Maybe an early version ??

Sandor, I need my ordered small stuff quickly now ! Sent you an e-mail this morning... thanks !

I guess...you mean... BRING them over accordingly. ?

For Mister Cyprus Airways, the whole world is just a small hop away....
Never had someone waiting for me on the tarmac next to the airliner with his limousine, before !

Guys, prepare for a dazzling WJM in Cyprus in the hands of the right people there ! Great team, all of them !

Thanks Chris for the kind suggestion, you are and were always a true&genuine friend !

Best,
Nicolas.

PS. I hate you for having your kit in your workshop (read living room) first ! [:@]

Nico, My Mate,

I just got a deal from Avi Ambar (Israeli Jet Team) on a Feibao MB339 (something similar to what you have paid to day on the JL L39.

Shall I buy it???

I think I wish I had one. My spare turbine is still to small.
Local Pilot at Lee'sSummit Airport has a Full Size L-39 in that camo scheme. It is Fantastic.

For those of you that have seen the JL L-39.
How does it compare to the Airworld L-39? Is it as big and scale? What about finish and details on the camo scheme?
If so, it looks to be good value for money...

Staale,

I will definitely refrain from making compairisons with a kit I have not seen myself.
When I still had SpiderJets, there was little so irritating as reading the posts of a guy from Holland bragging off while making comparisons (which were totally wrong and inaccurate) between my kit and some others although it was obvious he had never seen one for himself. It was clear he was biassed since he did also write a report in a magazine about an F-16 of another manufacturer.
I am just happy with my JL L-39.... did not plan this one, just saw the kit by accident (and the price in Singapore !) and ten minutes later swiped my card.
I was intended to buy one day the Skymaster F-16 1/6 or the Boomerang XL.
One of the things I liked immediately were the massive wheels and trailing link struts ; my club has only a rough grass strip.

Best Regards,
Nicolas.

Check the size, in comparison to the Skymaster F16 1/8th. Man, this is HUGE!! same size with the 1/5th Airworld kit.

Question for you guys with the JL L39.
What turbine are you using?
All up weight?
Smoke systems?
What is the quality like and most important how do they fly? & land?
Thanks,
John C

Me, JetCat P-160.
Just got the kit yesterday, just like Christos did. Exactly the same colours. Mine will fly second half of October, hopefully. If Christos does not "forget" to bring me his own P-160. [:@] This kit should be able to complete in 3 days maximum. I will send Christos some epoxy glue without hardener to slow him down for a while. Not sure where he could use it on this RTF, but it's worth the try.
Should fly with a P-120 too, I guess, but the P-160 would be a perfect match.

Nicolas.
